PROJECT DESCRYPTION

In the spring of 2014, the Warsaw University of Technology has received a grant to prepare an interdisciplinary master’s study programme in English, as a part of the the programme “Development of Polish Higher Education Institutions” from  the Foundation for the Development of the Education System.

The courses are intended to disseminate knowledge and best practice in multimedia technologies, both regarding economic activities (industry, services, education, healthcare) and creative arts (film, television, Internet, computer games). Graduates will be able to effectively cooperate with specialists representing various knowledge areas and skills.

The project team comprises associates of five units: the Warsaw University of Technology, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim and IP Management Poland. The project is supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA and Norway Grants

 

PROJECT GOALS

The Polish economy needs more practical implementations of technological innovations, which is due to the lack of professionals with interdisciplinary education, with generalists much more in demand than specialists. The Warsaw University of Technology is planning to introduce a special programme together with artistic educational institutions (AFA and UMFC in Warsaw) and NTNU in Trondheim, and in cooperation with various enterprises. The programme will be a Bologna-compliant secondary master’s study course in English entitled “multiMedia – technologies, design and management”.

The universities and other cooperating institutions will provide know-how, best practices, laboratory workshops and expert evaluation of solutions developed and other effects of the project. Multimedia scripts, e-learning courses and publications will be created, as well as interdisciplinary team assembled. International conferences will take place in Warsaw and Trondheim. Besides economic, social and public effects (the latter affecting business ethics and social responsibility), the study programme will the student’s and other stakeholders’ cultural and creative development.
